There are shuttle buses between Odda, P1 Tyssedal and P2 Skjeggedal.
From P2 Skjeggedal you can take a second bus up to P3 Mågelitopp, the uppermost parking lot.

If you start from the P2 parking lot in Skjeggedal, you should allow 8–12 hours for the 27-km round-trip hike to Trolltunga.
You can also start from P3 Mågelitopp, allowing 7–10 hours for the now 20-km round-trip hike.

‍This route is operated by Odda Buss (OB) and Odda Taxi (OT). The bus stops at designated locations near accommodations along the route.

Round-trip tickets require you to travel with the same company both ways.

Shuttle bus from P2 Skjeggedal to P3 Mågelitopp (2026)

This Route is Operated by Trolltunga-Road Bus.

Starting your hike from P3 Mågelitopp saves 1–1.5 hours each way.

The round trip from P3 Mågelitopp is 20 km, with an estimated hiking time of 7–10 hours.

In addition to the tickets available online, tickets are always also sold at the ticket office at P2 Skjeggedal.

Important: Start early to ensure you catch the last bus down! Odda is a small town with limited taxi availability, especially in the evening.

Parking at Trolltunga

Good planning starts with knowing where to park. Here's an overview of the available parking options and what you should know before arriving.

Where can I park when visiting Trolltunga?

There are three main car parks: P1 Tyssedal, P2 Skjeggedal, and P3 Mågelitopp.
P1 is the lowest and P3 is the highest. P3 has limited capacity and requires advance booking.

Do I need to pre-book parking?

P3 Mågelitopp requires a reservation during the high season, as it fills up quickly.
P1 Tyssedal and P2 Skjeggedal do not require advance booking, but we recommend starting your hike early in the day.

What does parking at Trolltunga cost?

Prices vary depending on the car park and the number of days. Please see our dedicated parking page for detailed rates.

Are there EV charging points?

No, unfortunately there are no charging facilities at the car parks. However, there are several EV chargers in Odda. We recommend charging your vehicle before driving up to the parking areas.

Can I park a motorhome?

Yes, motorhomes can park at P1 Tyssedal. From there, a shuttle bus takes you to P2 Skjeggedal, and a second shuttle continues to P3 Mågelitopp.
Be sure to check the shuttle bus timetable from P1 to P2 in advance!

Is camping allowed at the car parks?

No, camping is not permitted at any of the car parks. You will need to find alternative accommodation nearby – there are several campsites in Odda.

Can I drop off passengers at P2 Skjeggedal?

Yes, you can drop off passengers at P2 Skjeggedal, but a toll fee of NOK 200 must be paid at the payment machine at P2.

This applies to all vehicles, including those with AutoPASS and rental cars.

Can I drop off passengers at P3 Mågelitopp?

No – the road to P3 Mågelitopp is narrow with few passing places.

Only shuttle buses and vehicles with a valid reservation at P3 Mågelitopp are allowed to drive up.
It is not permitted to drive to P3 Mågelitopp solely to drop off passengers.

Trolltunga is easily accessible by both car and public transport.
There are several daily bus departures to and from Voss, Bergen, Stavanger, and Oslo. Shuttle buses run between Odda and the car parks at P1 Tyssedal and P2 Skjeggedal.

How can I get to Trolltunga without a car?

Shuttle buses run from Odda to P1 Tyssedal and P2 Skjeggedal. From P2 Skjeggedal, a second shuttle bus continues to P3 Mågelitopp.

Although it’s possible to buy tickets on board, we strongly recommend booking in advance. Trolltunga is a popular destination, and the number of seats on the buses is limited.

How long does the bus from Odda to P2 Skjeggedal take?

The journey from Odda to P2 Skjeggedal by bus takes approximately 30 minutes.

Is there early morning transport?

Yes, the first shuttle buses depart early in the morning. Please check the timetables in advance!

Note: The shuttle buses from P2 Skjeggedal to P3 Mågelitopp have a midday break, when no departures are available.

If you start your hike early, you'll also have time to catch the last bus back down.
The descent often feels longer and more demanding than expected – we recommend taking the shuttle bus for the return trip.
